Officers Stephen Tamburo and Colin McTamany were presented with Life Saving Commendations today for responding to the report of a 25 year old female who had overdosed and was unconscious in a parked vehicle at 101 Oxford Valley Rd. on September 21, 2019. Officer McTamany found the female seated and unconscious in the front passenger seat of a vehicle. He quickly assessed the victim recognizing she was in respiratory distress and surmised she was suffering from an overdose. He administered one dose of Naloxone, also known as Narcan.
Officer Tamburo arrived on scene and administered an additional dose of Naloxone to the victim. Within moments, the victim began to breathe normally and regained consciousness. The 25 year old female was transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
Since the implementation of Naloxone to Bucks County police departments began in 2015, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department alone has saved approximately 30 individuals from a fatal overdose.
