Lawrence Hilghman has been a police officer in Bucks County for over 26 years, serving with the Lower Makefield Township Police Department since 1999. Since beginning his employment with the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, Hilghman has served in various assignments and ranks including Patrol Officer, Corporal and Sergeant. 

Lieutenant Hilghman has served as an Accident Investigator, a member of the South Central Emergency Response Team, firearms and TASER instructor, and a member of the department’s motor patrol unit. Lieutenant Hilghman is also a member of Bucks County Special Operations Dive Team. 

Lieutenant Hilghman has received numerous awards and commendations including awards for lifesaving and letters of commendation. 

Lieutenant Hilghman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Pennsylvania State University, his Act 120 certification from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, and has completed numerous training programs in law enforcement.
