At 10:40 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2022, Bensalem Township Police responded to the report of a head-on traffic crash in the 2200 block of Street Road.  The units involved were the Bensalem Township Fire Department Truck 222 and a white work van.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the white work van driven by Cervantes Lebron, 22 years old from Locust Street in Philadelphia, was traveling west on Street Road and crossed over the center turning lane into oncoming traffic.  Engine 222 was traveling east on Street Road in the left lane and swerved to avoid the collision but it was struck head-on by the work van.  After the collision, the 2 injured Bensalem Township career firefighters climbed out of the firetruck and immediately began to provide life-saving measures to Cervantes who was trapped in the vehicle.  The firefighters also managed to use the "Jaws of Life" to cut Cervantes from the vehicle so he could be transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment.

Cervantes sustained significant injuries and is listed in critical condition at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.  The two career firefighters were treated for minor injuries at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital and released.
