Drone's can be an exciting experience for any age user but the Bensalem Township Police Department would like you to know that there are regulations relating to the use of drones.

The first thing you MUST do is register any drone that weights between .55 and 55 lbs.  This can be accomplished at the following FAA website and has minimal cost and can be completed in minutes:  https://registermyuas.faa.gov/

The other VERY IMPORTANT issue for Bensalem Township residents is that ALL of the township is located within Class D airspace and you need authorization from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport(KPNE) Air Traffic Control BEFORE YOU FLY anywhere in the township.  This is not a Bensalem Township or Pennsylvania law, this is a Federal Law that can incur a serious penalty if you do not comply.  The FAA has an app to help you determine if you are within restricted airspace.  B4UFLY is available for free download in the App Store for iOS and Google Play store for Android.

If a drone is flying over your property, you are violating Federal Law if you knock it out of the sky.  Take a photograph of the drone or write down a description and contact Bensalem Police.  Once again, you cannot knock a drone out of the sky even if it is over your property.
