Mayor DiGirolamo and the Bensalem Police Department are proud to report significant reductions in crime over the past two years. Part I (serious) crimes are down 13%, with burglary and robbery each reduced by over 50%. The department also achieved a record 47% clearance rate, up 15% since 2022.
Director McVey and the Command Staff credit the dedicated men and women of the department for their hard work in keeping our community safe.
While many areas continue to experience rising retail theft, Bensalem saw a 26% decrease and a 72% clearance rate in these cases.
Challenges remain, including a sharp 1,800% increase in suspects fleeing traffic stops over the past five years and ongoing illegal gun possession cases.
Our officers’ commitment, training, and use of advanced technology continue to play a vital role in reducing crime. We thank Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, Township Council, and District Attorney Jen Schorn for their continued support.
