On June 10, 2025, Bensalem Police received a Cybertip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The report stated that an account on the "Kik" app was engaged in uploading and sharing of child pornography in May of this year.
Bensalem Detectives reviewed the report and found numerous files depicting prepubescent females performing sex acts on adult males. They also found several messaging conversations between the registered "Kik" user and other users of the platform. Those conversations were sexual in nature with users who stated that they were underage females.
An investigation revealed that the creator and user of the "Kik" account was Joseph Ibbetson, 43, Bristol Road, Bensalem. Bensalem Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence and made contact with Joseph Ibbetson, who subsequently admitted to utilizing the listed "Kik" account to share/trade child pornography.
Joseph Ibbetson was taken into custody and was charged with Sexual Abuse of Children (Disseminate Material), Criminal Use of a Communication Facility, and related charges. He was arraigned by District Justice Joseph Falcone and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $2,000,000 bail.
