Today, Mayor Joseph DiGirolamo, Director William McVey, Council President Joseph Knowles, and Rescue Squad Executive Director Thomas Topley attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to add a Bensalem Rescue Squad medic unit at the Union Fire Station, located at 2067 State Road, Bensalem, PA 19020.
In a continued commitment to enhancing emergency medical services for the residents of Bensalem, Mayor DiGirolamo and the Bensalem Township Department of Public Safety are proud to announce that the deployment of this strategic expansion, which is part of our system status management plan for the community, will place resources to improve coverage during times of increased call volume, heavy traffic, or weather emergencies. This move is designed to improve response times and ensure faster, more efficient care for those experiencing medical emergencies in the surrounding neighborhoods. The new unit will operate during daytime and evening hours, staffed by highly trained paramedics equipped with advanced life support capabilities.
"Every second counts in an emergency," said Executive Director Thomas Topley of Bensalem Rescue Squad. "By positioning this medic unit at Union Fire Station, we’re strengthening our ability to reach patients quickly and provide critical care when it matters most."
The decision to add this unit reflects the ongoing dedication to public safety and its proactive approach to meeting the growing needs of the Bensalem community. It also underscores the strong partnership between Mayor DiGirolamo, the Bensalem Rescue Squad, and the Bensalem Volunteer Fire Department in protecting lives.
Topley stated, “One of the strongest benefits to the residents and visitors of Bensalem is the amount of cooperation among our fire, police, and EMS agencies working with our local government officials. This does not happen to this level in other communities.”
We want to thank Mayor DiGirolamo for his ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of the residents of Bensalem Township.
