BENSALEM POLICE K9 UNIT RECEIVES TOP HONORS AT LOCAL COMPETITION

Bensalem Township Police Department's K-9 Unit participated in the United States Police K-9 Associations Region 6 competition this past weekend.  The event was held at various locations in Montgomery County over a 2 day period and included over 20 K9 teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. 

Bensalem Police Department was represented by Officer Robert Schwarting & K9 Bowie, Officer Sean Hayden & K9 Nero and Officer Kevin Howard & K9 Jango. 

The Bensalem Township K9 Unit won the overall top unit trophy.  Officer Schwarting & K9 Bowie received the award for top K9 team and K9 Bowie was awarded first place for being the Top Dog in the competition.

Bensalem K9 teams also won trophies in individual skill competitions as follows:

OBEDIENCE: Officer Schwarting & Bowie received first place with Officer Hayden & Nero in 2nd place.

AGILITY:  Officer Schwarting & Bowie received first place

SEARCH: Officer Howard & Jango received first place with Officer Schwarting & Bowie in 2nd place

APPREHENSION:  Officer Schwarting & Bowie received 1st place with Officer Howard & Jango in 2nd place
