Newtown Township, Pa – On March 28, 2019, Newtown Township Police were contacted by the Acme store, in reference to a Quick “Flim Flam” style fraud to obtain gift cards that had occurred on March 26, 2019. Acme staff reported that at approx. 6:00 p.m., a female suspect (later identified as Minerva Razmias), entered the store and selected $1,000 in prepaid gift cards, which she then took to the register for purchase. At the register, Minerva Razmias presented the employee with several hundred dollar bills as payment, but there was still additional payment required. After the employee initially counted the currency the female asked for the money back. It was at this time that the female added the additional payment to the currency, but also surreptitiously removed some of the hundred dollar bills, which caused a shortage. The employee did not realize that the shortage had occurred until later in the night.
During the course of this investigation, Detectives discovered that Minerva Razmias traveled to the Acme Store in Northampton Township, a short time later, where she utilized the same scheme to obtain two additional gift cards and cause another $500 shortage at that store. At this same time, a male individual (later identified as Radu Razmias, husband to Minerva Razmias) entered the Northampton Township store with the gift cards that Minerva Razmias had obtained at the Newtown Township store, which he utilized to purchase Western Union Money Orders.
On that same date. It was also determined that Minerva Razmias & Radu Razmias traveled to additional Acme stores in Lower Southampton Township, Willingboro (New Jersey) & Bordentown (New Jersey), where they repeated the same course of conduct to obtain pre-paid gifts and cause shortages to the Acme stores. Those gift cards were also utilized to purchase additional Western Union Money orders.
As a result of this investigation, with the assistance of Detectives from the Northampton Township Police Department & the Lower Southampton Township Police Department, the Newtown Township Police Department has obtained a felony arrest warrant in this case.
