The New Britain Township Police Department participates in the Central Bucks Youth Aid Panel which is a diversionary program where police departments work with first-time, non-violent juvenile offenders as an alternative to the juvenile court system. The arresting agency, the parents of the offender, and the offender must agree to participation in the program. The youth aid panels are staffed with community volunteers along with police officers who serve as a liaison between the police department and the panel. Panels will hear cases individually and make recommendations and assign obligations such as; community service, letters of apology, drug and alcohol services etc.
