The New Britain Township Police Department partners with the Plumstead Township Police Department and their Explorer Program, Post 5708.
The program was established in 2013 in remembrance of fallen police officer, Joseph E. Hanusey III, of the Plumstead Township Police Department. The program is designed to help young adults from the ages of 14-21 in the Central Bucks County community make more informed decisions about future careers and job opportunities. The program is designed for youth who want to develop a greater understanding of the Police Officer in society. Police Explorers participate in various activities, interact with sworn and non-sworn members of the law enforcement community, and have the opportunity to perform community service at events and law enforcement functions. The goal of the program is to provide youth with skills they need to succeed in the law enforcement profession and in life.
The program abides by the core values in which Officer Hanusey III lived his life and served his community.
