A Philadelphia man has been charged with attempted murder for his part in an early-spring shooting at a Bristol Township basketball court.
Taariq Alfons Norris, 24, was arrested Thursday morning after a months-long investigation into the coordinated March 28 attack that saw a man shot several times by Norris and another male. The second shooter has not yet been identified.
Assisted by the U.S. Marshal Service, Bristol Township Police and Bucks County Detectives took Norris into custody in Philadelphia. He was later arraigned by District Judge Charles W. Baum on counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses.
As laid out by detectives in a criminal complaint filed earlier this week, security cameras captured Norris and an unidentified male exit a car about two blocks from the scene of the shooting just before 7 p.m. They then make their way to the park on Marie Lowe Drive and split up before arrival.
Norris and his co-conspirator then approach the victim in a parking lot from opposite directions with guns drawn and begin shooting, video shows. Norris appears to aim for the victim’s head. During the shooting, the victim retrieves a handgun and fires, striking Norris.
Both the victim and unidentified shooter are seen on video fleeing the area before bystanders place Norris in a car and drive him to the hospital. DNA evidence gathered from the scene and submitted for forensic examination further ties Norris to the shooting, the complaint says.
The victim received medical treatment, including surgery, for gunshot wounds to his abdomen and buttocks. Norris also received treatment for his own gunshot wounds.
Following his arraignment Thursday, Norris was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail set at 10 percent of $1 million.
The case continues to be investigated by Bristol Township Police and Bucks County Detectives. Assistant District Attorney Laurie Moore has been assigned for prosecution.
