A Warminster Township woman was sentenced on Monday, March 3, 2025, to four to 10 years in state prison for causing an August 2022 crash in Upper Southampton Township that killed her backseat passenger.
Kimberly Ann Roach-Trochak, 47, was found guilty in December following a waiver trial before Common Pleas Judge Stephen A. Corr. The judge found her guilty on charges of homicide by vehicle while DUI, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, driving under the influence, careless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
Corr sentenced Roach-Trochak to four to 10 years in state prison on the homicide by vehicle while DUI charge, and a concurrent sentence of two to four years on the aggravated assault while DUI charge.
The investigation found that Roach-Trochak was intoxicated on August 26, 2022, when she crashed her 2012 Nissan Rogue into a tree in the 1200 block of Churchville Road, killing 53-year-old Marita McTamney and seriously injuring McTamney’s daughter.
When the police arrived to investigate the 2:15 a.m. crash, Roach-Trochak was found pinned behind the wheel, semi-conscious. McTamney was not conscious or breathing in the backseat and McTamney’s daughter, who was the front seat passenger, was on the ground next to the vehicle.
McTamney was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later. An autopsy confirmed she died of multiple blunt-force injuries.
Her daughter was hospitalized for several days for injuries suffered in the crash. Those injuries included a lacerated spleen, a bruised kidney, a fractured sternum, and several other fractures.
The investigation found that the three women had gone to bars in Philadelphia and Montgomery County before the crash. Roach-Trochak consumed an unknown number of alcoholic drinks during that time, and a blood test also found the presence of marijuana in her system during the time of the crash.
This case was investigated by Upper Southampton Township Detective Anthony Marsaglia and was prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Jovin Jose.
