D.A. Matt Weintraub

Mr. Weintraub, a Bucks County native with nearly a quarter-century of experience as a prosecutor, was appointed District Attorney in 2016. On Nov. 8, 2017, Mr. Weintraub was elected to serve a full, four-year term by the voters of Bucks County.

He grew up in Upper Southampton Township and is a graduate of William Tennent High School, Ursinus College and the Temple Law School.

After earning his law degree in 1993, Mr. Weintraub worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Bucks and Lehigh Counties; and as an Assistant Prosecutor in Cape May County, N.J. He re-joined the Bucks County District Attorney's Office in 2011. 

Mr. Weintraub has tried more than 100 criminal cases before juries or judges. He has prosecuted more than 20 defendants for some level of homicide, including 13 convictions for capital and non-capital murder. Mr. Weintraub has argued successfully before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. 

As District Attorney, Mr. Weintraub oversees an office staff of about 100 employees, 40 of them prosecutors. He has spearheaded and endorsed many ongoing countywide anti-drug initiatives in recent year, among other countywide anti-crime community measures, which include CRIMEWATCH; Ben's Campaign, a gunlock distribution initiative; the DUI Task Force and the Drug Strike Force.

Mr. Weintraub has taught criminal justice courses at Delaware Valley University, Rowan University and DeSales University. He enjoys educating the public on justice and public safety in schools and in communities all across Bucks County.
