Dear Driver, Family Member, or Care Provider,

You know better than anyone the struggles that face individuals with a condition that could lead to a communication impediment. Bedminster Township Police Department recognizes that it is sometimes difficult to communicate with certain conditions and that being involved in a vehicle stop or a traffic accident could be especially upsetting for some people.

The primary goal of the Blue Envelope Program is to aid drivers with the documentation needed in the event of a vehicle stop or traffic accident. This envelope also helps police officers and other emergency personnel to identify those with a communication impediment and guides them through an interaction.

Please review the Blue Envelope with your driver and place all pertinent paperwork inside.

Envelope checklist:

• Color photocopy of Driver’s License
• Vehicle Registration
• Vehicle Insurance
• Emergency contact name and phone number on back of envelope
• Any other information that may be useful (medication, disabilities, etc.)
