Perkasie Borough Council announced today that some park amenities throughout the park system are temporarily closed to the public. The closure is immediate and will be in effect for the foreseeable future.
The closure applies to playgrounds and the basketball courts. Park trails and open space will remain open to the public, although park visitors should take care to maintain a minimum 6’ distance between themselves and others. Restrooms at Lenape Park will remain open for now, and will continue to be sanitized daily.
“As part of Pennsylvania’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts, many of the facilities in Perkasie Borough parks will be closed, and all events and Park and Rec programs are canceled,” said James Ryder, Perkasie Borough Council President.
Chuck Brooks, Chair of the Borough’s Park and Recreation Committee added “We are closing playground structures and other park equipment because they are “high-touch” surfaces. We are asking people to refrain from gathering on courts and playfields. However, Perkasie’s park trails and open spaces remain open. We encourage park visitors to maintain a “social distance” of at least 6’ and to follow the recommendations of the CDC in terms of handwashing etc.”
The best advice to slow the spread of COVID-19 is to stay home. To help avoid exposure to COVID-19 and still enjoy the outdoors:
