On 11/05/2021, Patrol responded to a report of a retail theft in progress at a local business. Upon arrival, Patrol spoke with the business manager who provided a description of the  subject(s). While on scene, Patrol made contact with suspect, Monntell Patterson who was walking from behind the business toward his vehicle. After speaking with Patterson, he continued toward his vehicle and entered it. While this investigation was ongoing, Newtown Borough PD. contacted our Department advising they had a similar retail theft that just took place. The video provided from Newtown Borough matched the vehicle Patterson entered.

Patrol walked back over to Patterson's vehicle and immediately detected an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. The interior of the vehicle was filled with smoke. Patterson was taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance.

Patrol applied for a search warrant of Patterson's vehicle and it was approved. Inside the vehicle, Patrol recovered an estimated value in the amount of $7,500 in over the counter medication. Patterson was charged with Retail Theft, Receiving Stolen Property and other offenses.
