At approximately 5 PM on Monday, October 21, 2019; Falls Township police officers responded to the Aspen Falls apartment complex, located at 135 Trenton Rd., Fairless Hills Pennsylvania, for the report of an apartment fire.
Upon the officer's arrival, residents had used personal fire extinguishers to douse the fire, helping to contain the blaze to a single apartment in building E.
The apartment’s lone occupant, a 41-year-old female, suffered burns to her arms, face, and torso. She was transported by medics from the Levittown Fairless Hills Rescue Squad to the helipad at St. Mary's Hospital, before being flown to Temple hospital for advanced care.
Inside of the apartment, investigators noted that three smoke detectors had been removed from their mounts and could not be located. A serviceable fire extinguisher was mounted to the wall outside of the apartment, but had not been used.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted through a joint effort between the Falls Township Fire Marshal and the Falls Township Police Department Detective Division.
