2nd Update: Person Identified in the fatal motor vehicle crash yesterday. Road was closed longer than expected due to complications with cleanup and truck removal.
** 2nd update: Police were able to speak with the family of the deceased person. He has been identified as Jose Ricardo Canales Rivera, 39 of Souderton,PA.The crash is still under investigation. The intersection was closed for several more hours than originally anticipated. The cement truck was fully loaded and there was extensive road cleanup completed from all of the hazardous fluids. The intersections was opened around 6:00 pm last evening.**
Warrington Police are investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred around 9:53 am on Thursday - February 28, 2019. The crash involved 4 vehicles including a cement truck. Preliminary investigative information indicates that a cement truck was traveling south on Route 152 crossing Upper State Road. A Camaro was traveling in a northerly direction on Upper State Road when the two collided. The cement truck rolled over on its side and the driver had to be extricated. He reported no injuries.
The third and fourth vehicles involved were struck after the initial impact between the other two vehicles. The driver in the Camaro has to be extricated by Warrington Township Fire Company. This person was transported to Doylestown Hospital by Chalfont Ambulance with very serious injuries. No other injuries reported. There is a large amount of hazardous fluids leaking at the scene and Penndot and Warrington Township Public Works were called to the scene to prevent the fluids from entering any storm drains.
Warrington Police are handling the investigation. New Britain Township and Central Bucks Regional Police assisted. Warrington and Chalfont Fire Companies assisted, Warrington and Chalfont Ambulance companies responded as well. Chalfont, Montgomery Township and Warrington Township Fire Police remain on location. The roads will be closed for several hours. A private Environmental cleanup company has been called in to cleanup the road. Further updates later this afternoon as more information develops.
