This July 4th, the Warminster Police would like everyone to be as safe and considerate when celebrating the upcoming July 4th holiday. July 4th is a very busy holiday for the police department as there are several parties and festivities going in and around town. During those parties some like to take advantage of the Pennsylvania law that allows for the discharge of certain fireworks. The Warminster Police would encourage those who wish to take advantage of this activity to follow the Pennsylvania laws governing fireworks, as we all live and work within close proximity to each other.
The main restrictions of the PA laws regarding fireworks are as follows:
*Must be 18 to purchase/possess and use consumer fireworks
*Cannot be used on public or private property without the express permission of the owner
*Cannot discharge fireworks/sparking devices within or throw them out of a motor vehicle or building
*Cannot discharge fireworks/sparking devices into a motor vehicle or at a person
*Cannot discharge fireworks/sparking devices while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
*Cannot discharge fireworks within 150 feet of an occupied structure
See 72 P.S. § 9404.
The Warminster Police would also like to remind everyone, that Fireworks are not permitted in any Township parks with out permission of the Township. Furthermore, Centennial School District has requested the Warminster Police for extra patrols of their properties this holiday, as they are not allowing any fireworks to be discharged from their property. Any one found on School district property maybe cited for trespass.
Finally, Warminster Police would like to remind everyone that making unreasonable noise is a violation of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code section 5503 Disorderly Conduct (a)2, and Warminster Township Ordinances. Please check the Warminster Township web page to ensure compliance with the local ordinance at https://www.ecode360.com/14232463.
As always the Warminster Police will be on patrol and engaging with the public this holiday. The Warminster would like to wish all residents and visitors a Happy and Safe 4th of July and ask that you are all kind and considerate this holiday.
