In 2012, the Department recognized that circumstances arise that may benefit from the presence of a chaplain. Where it is not the police department’s intention to promote any particular religious belief system, it is widely recognized that members of clergy have experience and training that allow them to relate to people in times of extreme stress. The goal of the chaplain program is to make counseling and pastoral services available to the members of the Department and their families, as well as citizens whenever such services may be needed or requested.
Since its inception, Pastor Paul Randolph has volunteered his time and has assisted the Department with numerous situations and incidents where citizens in need have requested his assistance and counseling. He is trained and certified through the International Conference of Police Chaplains.
