On 7/1/2020 at 1312 hours, officers responded to the Strathmann Lumber Store located at 350 Knowles Avenue on the report of a vehicle theft in progress. The victim reported that he had parked his red 2003 Honda Civic two door out front of the store and left the vehicle running. He stated that when he came out a few minutes later the vehicle was gone.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a white male with tan skin, a goatee, average height and wearing a cut-off t-shirt, cargo shorts and having a large tattoo on his right shoulder walking on Knowles Avenue and around the store just prior to the vehicle theft.
An officer checking the area for the stolen vehicle spotted it traveling South on Second Street Pike in the area of County Line Road and it was being operated by the subject matching the description provided by witnesses. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but it sped off at a high rate of speed South on Huntingdon Pike into Lower Moreland Township.
The Department is requesting the public’s assistance in attempting to identify the subject as well as determining if anyone has video available from their residences or business along that stretch of Knowles Avenue.
