On 8/28/17 at 0940 hours, officers responded to the Giant Food Store located at 466 Second Street Pike on the report of a retail theft which had just occurred. The actor in the incident had reportedly left the store without paying for a quantity of Dove soap, Tide pods, Glade candles and toothpaste. A witness to the retail theft was able to get a vehicle description as well as the vehicles registration number and provide it responding officers. The vehicle fled the store parking lot traveling southbound onto Second Street Pike and then turned eastbound on County Line Road.
An alert Lower Southampton Township Police officer heard the dispatch and observed the above described vehicle and then conducted a traffic stop on it at the intersection of Pine Road and Byberry Road. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Gary Mount after he got out of his vehicle, raised his hands and admitted to the retail theft. Mount was taken into custody for the retail theft and also found to have outstanding arrest warrants from several other agencies, also for retail theft. He was processed and later transported to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
