FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH
On Saturday September 8, at approximately 5:45pm, officers with the Upper Makefield Twp. Police responded to the 1500 block of River Road for the report of motorcycle accident with injuries. Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive male operator in the roadway. The motorcyclist, later identified as William Ottey, a 42-year-old Levittown resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle sustained a traumatic head injury as result of the crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Ottey was traveling southbound on River Road with a group of motorcyclists. Ottey attempted to pass other southbound traveling vehicles at which time Ottey lost control of the motorcycle, sustaining fatal injuries caused by contacting the roadway. Due to braking in the southbound lane of travel, a second motorcycle collided with the rear of another southbound moving vehicle. As a result of this collision, the passenger of the motorcycle suffered a leg injury and was transported to St. Mary Medical Center for treatment by Central Bucks EMS.
The accident is still under investigation by the Upper Makefield Township Police Department.
