On July 5, 2019, Richland Township Police responded to the report of a male requesting assistance. Prior to arrival, the call was updated to include the male subject's description and an attempt to leave with the caller's phone. Richland Twp Police located a male fitting the description who ran into CVS, pulled the fire alarm and then began to run toward Rt. 309. The male subject displayed a knife and a kubaton, while being pursued. Richland Township Police attempted to get the male to drop the weapons, when an off-duty Lansdale Borough Police Officer, attempted to render aid. This officer, Daniel Galagher, was stabbed in the left shoulder, as the male subject was taken to the ground. The subject, Stephen Deatlehauser was taken into custody without further incident. Officer Gallagher and Deatlehasuer were transported to St. Lukes-Quakertown Hospital and were treated and released. Deatlehauser was arraigned before District Magistrate Lisa Gaier, where bail was revoked, from a previous case. Deatlehauser was transported to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
It is believed that Deatlehasuer may have attempted to gain access to cars along Rt. 309 between Tollgate Road and Trumbauersville Road. At some point Deatlehasuer was reported to have a backpack or smaller bag. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this bag, please contact police.
