Pedestrian Crosswalk Enforcement

As part of the  Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Program , the Quakertown Police Department will be focusing on pedestrian crossings from October 22nd – November 25th.
Under section 3542 of the Pa Vehicle Code, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.

Any person who violates this section, could be cited with a $50 fine, plus costs.

The Quakertown Police encourages drivers to stop for pedestrians within a crosswalk.  It will not only save you money and costly points on your license but could also save a life!
