Juvenile arrested for False Reports to Law Enforcement
On Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1817 hours a threat was received through the Safe2Say anonymous tip line for school districts. The anonymous tip was that a “Joey was going to shoot up the 6th Grade Center for Monday, March 4, 2019”.
Quakertown Borough Police Department in conjunction with Quakertown Community School District were notified of this threat and began investigating. Students at the 6th Grade Center were questioned and interviewed over the weekend to ascertain the validity of the threat. Detectives secured a search warrant to the Safe2Say tip line to determine where the tip originated from. As a result the tip it was determined to be from a 13 year old female in Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
On Friday, March 8, 2019, the 13 year old female turned herself into the Quakertown Borough Police Department. The female was petitioned to Juvenile Court for False Reports and Disorderly Conduct.
The safety of our schools and the community is top priority. The Quakertown Borough Police Department worked hours during the weekend determining the source of the threat. The Quakertown Community School District and Quakertown Police Department has zero tolerance for threats to our schools.
