Bike Patrol

Established in 2003, the Township's Bike Patrol consists of four officers. This unit is a great community-policing tool as well as useful for patrolling the bike paths and trails in Plumstead. Each officer is equipped with a radio and prepared to provide any service that a patrol car can perform. In coordination with Gayman School, the Bike Patrol sponsors a rider safety course with each child receiving a certificate of completion. In addition, our officers will give away coupons to children who are observed with their helmets and are following bike safety rules. Upon request, the unit offers bike rodeos in local neighborhood. These include an informal bike safety check and rider safety course. The unit bike fleet consists of two BMW bicycles donated by the Thompson Organization and two Mercedes bicycles donated by Keenan Motors.
