On Monday, August 2, 2021, at approximately 5:08 PM, the Plumstead Township Police Department was dispatched to the Plumstead Shopping Center, located at 5762 Easton Road, Plumstead Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania for the report of a struck pedestrian.
Officers reviewed video surveillance from the shopping center, along with witness statements, statements made by the driver of the striking vehicle, and discovered the driver of the striking vehicle, William Connolly, 44, of Philadelphia, engaged in a verbal argument with a 45-year-old male from Quakertown.
Connolly then struck the victim with his vehicle dragging him over 100 feet across the parking lot before coming to a stop. As a result of Connolly deliberately striking the male with his vehicle, the victim was transported via ambulance to a local trauma center for his injuries.
Connolly was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Possessing Instrument of Crime. He was arraigned before Judge Kevin Wagner who set bail at 10% of $500,000. He was transported to the Bucks County Prison and is awaiting his preliminary hearing.
