On May 6, 2018 at 03:44 hours, Perkasie Police were called to investigate a disturbance in the 500 block of Race Street. Upon arrival they located John Paul FITGERALD, III laying on the sidewalk in the rain. FITZGERALD, III, 31, lives in the 100 block of Chelsea Court, Perkasie. He was very intoxicated. Police soon learned that he had physically assaulted two females inside a home on the same block. While assaulting his girlfriend, FITZGERLAD placed his hands around her neck and temporarily stopped the flow of air. Another female that was present tried to get FITZGERALD off of his girlfriend. The second female was punched in the face by FITZGERALD but was successful in interrupting the assault. FITGERALD went outside and laid down on the sidewalk until police arrived. Neither female had to bb hospitalized for their injuries.
While in police custody at the station, FIRTGERALD made a brief attempt to escape but was quickly placed under control. The officer who was present tore his uniform pant and received minor scrapes on his knees.
FITZGERALD, III was on probation for previous crimes. His parole was revoked. In addition FITGERALD, III was arraigned for Strangulation, Simple Assault, Escape, Harassment and Public Drunkenness. His bail was set at $50,000/10%. FITZGERALD was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility due to the parole violation and being unable to post bail in the present case.
