Bomb Threat/Richboro section of Northampton Township (Bucks County)
On August 23, 2018, at approximately 1737 Hrs. Northampton Twp. Police responded to a doctor's office on 2nd St Pike in the Richboro section of Northampton Township (Bucks County) for a report of a male subject inside advising he has a bomb inside a box. Patrols closed down 2nd Street Pike in the area of the doctor's office and the surrounding the business were evacuated. Suspect, Daniel Kessel was taken into custody outside the business.
Philadelphia Police Bomb Squad was called to the scene, as well as Northampton Fire Company and Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad were asked to stage in the Crossroad Plaza Shopping Center. The Bomb squad arrived and checked the package and found no explosives.
Daniel Scott Kessel was arraigned before District Justice Vislosky on charges of Threat to Use Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terroristic Threats. Kessel was remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of $750,000.00/10% bail. A preliminary hearing is pending before District Justice William Benz.
The Northampton Township Police appreciates the assistance of the Northampton Township Volunteer Fire Department, Tri-Hampton Rescue Squad and the Philadelphia Police Bomb Squad for their assistance in determining the box was not an actual bomb.
