In the early morning hours of December 22, 2017 the Newtown Township Police Department was investigating a loitering and prowling incident in the area of Providence Court and Twining Bridge Road. At approximately 3am, police observed a suspicious vehicle on Swamp Road in an area that is adjacent to Providence Court. A traffic stop was conducted on this vehicle. During the encounter, the occupants were identified as Elihu Blackmon III (Albuquerque, NM) and Christian Abell (San Diego, CA). The vehicle was a Hertz Rental van out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. While speaking with the occupants, police smelled a strong odor of marijuana from inside of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, a small amount of suspected marijuana and over $19,000 in US Currency was discovered. Police impounded the vehicle in anticipation of a search warrant. A search warrant was obtained and police recovered 30-40lbs of marijuana, more than 700 THC (marijuana) vaporizers and over $80,000 in US Currency. The items recovered were located inside of numerous wrapped Christmas presents and pieces of luggage.
Christian Abell was arraigned in front of Judge Petrucci and sent to Bucks County Prison on $500k bail. There is currently an active felony arrest warrant for Elihu Blackmon III.
