On June 6, 2018 at 0153 hours, Newtown Township Police were advised that the Bucks County Sheriffs Department conducted a traffic stop on the 100 block of Wrights Road on the operator of a silver Honda Accord for committing a vehicle code violation. Upon police arrival, contact was made with the driver, 40 year old Shawn Sommer of Newtown, PA, where the officer observed Sommer to have slurred speech, glassy blood shot eyes and lethargic movement. Sommer was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. He was transported to St Mary Medical Center for a blood draw, prior to being processed at Northampton Township Police Department and released. Charges are pending blood and suspected narcotic evidence results.
