Newtown Twp, Pa - On Tuesday, 3/12/2019 at approximately 1:05 PM, Newtown Township Police responded to the Citizen’s Bank located at 48 West Road in Newtown Township for the report of a fraud in progress. An employee reported that a male inside of the bank was attempting to deposit a $1600 check and withdraw $4500 from the victim’s account. A similar attempted transaction involving the same individual was also reported at the Citizen’s Bank on Cambridge Lane in Newtown Township. Responding officers arrived and took 32-year-old Michael Pearce, of Indianapolis, IN, into custody. During a subsequent interview, Pearce revealed that he was picked up in Bridgeport, CT by an accomplice. This individual produced and provided him with a counterfeit Driver’s License, a bank check and a victim’s personal information. The accomplice then drove Pearce to the bank branches in PA for the purpose of withdrawing fraudulent funds from the victim’s account. Pearce was arraigned by MDJ Michael Petrucci and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of 10% of $75,000 bail.
