On April 8, 2017 at 2:43 AM police observed a minivan make a wide turn onto the Newtown Bypass, and was observed to be swerving onto the shoulder. The vehicle was also traveling at speeds over 70 mph. Upon contact with the driver, 42-year-old Joseph Macnichol of Warminster, PA, the officer noticed that Macnichol had glassy eyes and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. At the conclusion of field sobriety testing, Macnichol was placed under arrest for the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Upon receipt of the blood draw analysis, the appropriate charges were filed.
