On Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at approximately 6:30pm, Newtown Township Police, the Newtown Fire Association, & Newtown Ambulance personnel responded to a two vehicle head-on traffic accident with entrapment, on Swamp Road in the area of Twining Bridge Road - Newtown Township. Upon arrival, Officers found the 43 year old female & 11 year old female victims still entrapped within their vehicle, with extensive injuries. The Newtown Fire Association was able to extricate both victims from their vehicle and they were transported to St. Mary Medical Center by Ambulance and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia by medevac helicopter, both with serious bodily injuries.
After the subsequent investigation, Investigators determined that 50 year old Barry Hillborn Jr. of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, had operated his vehicle in a reckless manner resulting in this accident. As a result, Hillborn surrendered himself to the Newtown Township Police Department on 10/26/2017 where he was charged with Aggravated assault by motor vehicle, Recklessly endangering another person, Limitations on driving on the left side of roadway, Limitations on overtaking on the left, & Reckless driving. Hillborn was processed and arraigned by MDJ Michael Petrucci and was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
