On Friday, July 19th, 2019 at approximately 5:35pm, officers were informed of a DUI driver on west-bound County Line Road at Upper State Road. The reporting party was following the driver, later identified as Karl Hyk, after he had fallen asleep in traffic. The reporting party knocked on the vehicle's window and eventually awoke Hyk ; an open beer can was observed in the cup holder. The reporting party followed Hyk to his residence where police made contact with him. Hyk was found to be intoxicated/impaired and the open beer can was still in the cup holder of the vehicle he was driving. The reporting party confirmed Hyk as the driver of the vehicle. Hyk refused field sobriety tests. Hyk was arrested for DUI and related charges; he was transported to police headquarters. Hyk also refused chemical testing. Hyk was later released to his wife.
