Chief Kenneth D. Coluzzi
Ken Coluzzi is a veteran law enforcement official with 42 years of experience. Before his appointment as the Chief of Police and Emergency Management Coordinator of Lower Makefield Township, Bucks County, in October 2000, he served with the Philadelphia Police Department.
During his years of public service, he was called upon to head many of Philadelphia’s high profile murder cases. Chief Coluzzi directed the Homicide Special Investigations/Fugitive as well as the Special Victims Units. He commanded patrol forces in many culturally diverse neighborhoods of Philadelphia.
Over the years, he has received numerous awards and commendations including the prestigious award for bravery, the Chapel of the Four Chaplains for outstanding community service regardless of race or faith, American Society for industrial Security for outstanding service and the Richard H. Galup leadership award.
He is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Staff and Command as well as the Pennsylvania State University Police Executive management program. The Chief holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Communications from Chestnut Hill College, Philadelphia, with additional studies in criminal justice and he holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration with a Public Administration Concentration.
His progressive and innovative management style placed him at the forefront of many new initiatives. He co-founded the Pennsylvania Homicide Investigators Association (PHIA) in 1992. PHIA provides education and training for prosecutors, medical personnel, and law enforcement agencies. He is committed to reducing crime and promoting community involvement.
He developed a model comprehensive emergency operating plan in his township that includes ongoing vulnerability assessments supported by a rapid response to natural disasters, terrorism and violent school incidents. In 2004, the Chief was granted the Department of Justice Secret Security Clearance. Ken is the former Chairman of the board of the county SWAT team.
He is experienced in all areas of public safety and well respected throughout the law enforcement community.
