We wanted to provide the following information to the residents of Hilltown Township and Silverdale Borough. The Hilltown Township Police Department does not condone the game due to the potential risk associated with it. The following information was recently disseminated by the Pennridge School District:
Dear Pennridge Families of the Class of 2021,
As you may be aware, some of the 12th grade students are playing a game called “Jackal.” Jackal is a student-run game that is not school-sponsored, supported, sanctioned or authorized. Students run it entirely outside of school.
We thought we should make you aware this game involves players “shooting” other participants with water pistols. Players try to sneak up on each other while they are unsuspecting. The game is often played while it is dark, and participants are often on people’s property without them knowing. We are concerned there could be a danger of students being injured if their water pistols are mistaken for actual guns. We are also concerned that students may be endangering themselves while playing this game in their cars. Here is a link to an article from 2019 about a local school and an accident that happened with students playing the game.
We have been made aware that this game has started, and we have already received complaints from the community through our local police departments.
Please know this game of Jackal is not permitted anywhere on school district grounds. Please speak with your child about being safe if they elect to participate in this event outside of school.
