On February 24, 2022 at approximately 5:00 PM, Hilltown Township Police were dispatched to a plane crash at the intersection of Victoria and Brittany Lanes. The single-engine plane burst into flames upon impact in the roadway and caused an exterminator business vehicle parked nearby to catch fire. Responding fire department personnel extinguished the fire. No persons on the ground were injured. One house sustained damage from part of the propeller penetrating through a second floor bedroom wall.
Witnesses reported seeing and hearing the plane struggle to remain airborne. Several home security cameras captured various aspects of the crash. The two occupants of the plane were killed upon impact. The identification of the victims will not be released until their identities have been verified and family is notified. The pilot is being credited with avoiding houses and nearby Pennridge Central Middle School.
Hilltown Police were assisted at the scene by Bedminster Township Police, Dublin Borough Police, Silverdale Fire Company, Hilltown Fire Company, Perkasie Fire Company, Telford Fire Company, Fire Police from numerous fire companies, Central Bucks EMS, Bucks County Coroner’s Office and the Federal Aviation Administration.
The plane wreckage will likely remain on site until Saturday, February 26th when it is scheduled to be removed by a recovery team contracted by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The NTSB will be investigating the cause of the crash.
