We have recently experienced a series of thefts of the  “Support Our Police” signs displayed by residents throughout the Township.  In addition, there have been a number of political signs and support signs for a proposed development stolen.  Make no mistake, these thefts are unacceptable and do not qualify as a legal expression of the First Amendment right to free speech, regardless of your opinion.  Hilltown Police will pursue criminal charges for Theft and related offenses for anyone found to have taken these signs.  The political season is in full swing and everyone has the absolute right to express their opinion, but no one has the right to suppress the opinion of those with opposing views.  We greatly appreciate those in the community that have proudly displayed the “Support Our Police” signs.  We also recognize and respect that there are differing opinions and will staunchly defend the right of any person to express their opinion regardless of where they may fall along the political spectrum.  However, we will not tolerate criminal activity perpetrated to support or suppress a particular cause, opinion or candidate.  Thank you!
