On June 3, 2020 at approximately 12:05 am, Hilltown Township Police and the Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 2100 block of Mulberry Court for the report of a vehicle fire. Responding police located the vehicle and extinguished the fire prior to the arrival of the fire company. It appeared as though the fire was intentionally set. Police also stopped and identified a suspicious person in the area, at the time of the fire. The subject was released from the scene pending further investigation.
On June 26, 2020, following a nearly month-long investigation, Hilltown Police made an arrest in connection with the arson. Through the investigation, police determined that the same subject police stopped on the night of the incident was in fact responsible for the fire. Through a subsequent interview of the suspect, it was determined that the victim was not the intended target.
Hilltown Police were assisted by the Bucks County Fire Marshall’s Office and the Philadelphia Police Warrant Unit.
