On July 2, 2019 at 5:23 pm, Hilltown Police responded to the Sunoco-A-Plus located at 1501 Bethlehem Pike for the report of a vehicle theft that just occurred. Responding officers spoke with the vehicle owner who advised he left his keys inside of his Nissan Altima while making a purchase inside of the store. Other customers observed the vehicle being stolen and notified the vehicle owner of the theft.
While taking the initial report, Hatfield Township Police were able to obtain the stolen vehicle registration information which was then broadcasted to area police departments. At 5:40 pm, Quakertown Borough Police spotted the vehicle on Route 309. Officers from Quakertown Borough Police and the Pennsylvania State Police coordinated a felony traffic stop and took a male suspect into custody.
The suspect was sent to Bucks County Correctional Facility after police learned of an outstanding arrest warrant by the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.
On July 3, 2019, the suspect was arraigned via video before Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage, and he was to remain in prison in lieu of posting 10% of his $75,000 bail.
