On September 18, 2017 at 2:06 PM, Hilltown Township Police responded to Citizen’s Bank in the 700 block of Route 113 for a robbery that had just occurred. The actor was described as a Hispanic male wearing multiple jackets and possible shoe polish smeared on his face. No weapon was displayed or implied and no one was injured. The actor fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a gray Honda Civic.
On September 25, 2017 at 4:16 PM, Police responded to this same location for an attempted robbery. The male actor, wearing a jacket and gloves, attempted to enter the bank after the doors had been locked at the end of business hours and then fled in a black Nissan Altima.
On September 26, 2017, at 2:37 PM, Hilltown Township Police again responded to the Citizen’s Bank for another attempted robbery. The male actor, wearing a jacket and with a black shoe polish type substance smeared on his face and hands, entered the bank carrying a bag. The actor was escorted from the bank by a security officer. A vehicle description was obtained and broadcasted to area Police Departments. The suspect vehicle was stopped a short time later by Hatfield Township Police but was occupied by a different subject.
Through investigation, it was determined that the same actor was responsible for all three incidents. The suspect was identified as Manuel A. MONTENEGRO, 26, from the 2200 block of Pileggi Drive, Warrington, PA.
MONTENEGRO was taken into custody by Warrington Township Police at 6:20 PM on September 26th without incident.
MONTENEGRO was interviewed by police and confessed to committing the successful robbery on September 18th, and the two subsequent attempted robberies at the Citizen’s Bank in Hilltown Township. In addition, MONTENEGRO admitted to committing a robbery at the Vista Bank located in Reading, PA on September 22, 2017.
MONTENEGRO was charged with one count of Robbery, two counts of Attempted Robbery, Theft and related charges. MONTENEGRO was video arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Frank W. Peranteau Sr. of Bristol, PA and remanded to Bucks County prison under $100,000.00 bail.
