Upper Makefield Death Investigated as a Homicide

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office today confirmed that Upper Makefield Township Police and Bucks County Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation into the death of a Washington Crossing resident whose body was discovered this week in his home.

The victim has been identified as Michael D. McNew, 64, of 1050 River Road.

Mr. McNew is listed as the owner of the home. His relatives have been notified of his death.

Mr. McNew’s body was discovered shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, by officers from the Upper Makefield Township Police Department. The officers were responding to a 911 call seeking assistance for an unresponsive person.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday, Aug. 9, by the Bucks County Coroner’s Office identified the manner of death as homicide. The specific cause of death is not being released at this time.

No suspects have been arrested, and the investigation is continuing.
