DA Chats With Warminster Seniors About Avoiding Scams
July 7, 2017
District Attorney Matt Weintraub had a chance to chat with Warminster-area seniors recently at a "Donuts With the DA" event hosted by the Cowhey Family ShopRite on West Street Road.
Older adults are especially vulnerable to scams and other forms of financial exploitation, according to the Bucks County Crimes Against Older Adults Task Force. Knowing more about how scammers target them and their assets can help seniors to avoid falling prey. Well-informed loved ones and caretakers can help shield them as well.
Weintraub visited with shoppers, such as the one pictured here, from noon to 2 p.m. on June 28, sharing coffee and doughnuts and offering advice on how to avoid identity theft and other forms of financial exploitation.
"Thank you to the Cowhey Family ShopRite of Warminster for hosting Donuts With the DA," Weintraub said. "It was a great opportunity to connect with seniors and pass along tips to avoid getting caught up in targeted scams."
