Crash leads to arrest

Bristol Borough Police responded to the report of a car crash which took place in the 500 block of Pond Street, Tuesday morning January 9th.  The crash, which took place at 7;11am, took down a utility pole and damaged the front porch of a residence.  The investigation determined that a vehicle was traveling south on Pond Street, striking a park vehicle which caused the vehicle to careen into the north bound lane then striking the utility pole.  The driver of the vehicle attempted to leave the scene and struck a second porch across the street from the first collision.  The driver of the vehicle, Lee Earl Williams, age 33 of Dallas PA, was placed under arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence.  Williams was also found to be in possession of narcotics which resulted in additional charges of possession with intent to deliver controlled substances and other related charges.  A passenger in the vehicle, Douglas Akins, 30, of Bristol Township, was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Bucks County.  Douglas was arraigned before the Honorable Frank W. Peranteau Sr and bail was set at $35,000 w/10%.

Bucks County EMS responded to the scene, but both occupants denied treatment..  The Bristol Borough Fire Police also responded to assist with traffic.  Pond Street was closed in the area and was reopened around 2:00 pm after utility workers replaced the utility pole.
