Homicide Charges in Shooting of Roommate

On Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10:26 p.m., Bensalem Police responded to 2500 Knights Rd, Creekside Apartments, #154-05, for the report of a shooting.  The shooting victim, identified as Shareif Simpson (25), was transported to Aria Jefferson Hospital and was later pronounced dead.  The shooter was identified as Gregory Hylton (40).  Hylton and Simpson were roommates.  After the shooting, Hylton called 911, remained at the scene, and attempted CPR.  It was determined that Hylton and Simpson were arguing and physically fighting prior to the shooting.  Hylton admitted to detectives that he struck Simpson several times with his 9mm handgun prior to shooting him. 

Hylton was charged with criminal homicide and possession of an instrument of crime.  He was arraigned by District Justice Petrucci and sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.  Bail was denied.  Bensalem Police were assisted with this investigation by the Bucks County Detectives and District Attorney’s Office.
