Patrol Division Commander, Lt. James Donnelly

Lieutenant Donnelly has been a member of the Bensalem Township Police Department since 2002. Prior to joining us in Bensalem, Lieutenant Donnelly was a police officer for four years in the City of Philadelphia assigned to the 26th District. Lieutenant Donnelly served as a front line supervisor in the Patrol Division, and the Criminal Investigation Division before being promoted to Lieutenant in 2018.   Lieutenant Donnelly is currently the Administrative Commander.

Since 2015, Lieutenant Donnelly has been the command officer of the PAL Program. Currently, the PAL Program has 900 youths from the Bensalem Township community participating in the program.  Lieutenant Donnelly oversees the summer basketball league, flag football tournament, street hockey league, bowling league, special needs program, stranger danger Easter egg hunt, and coordinates a field trip for the PAL youths to a Phillies game.

Lieutenant Donnelly received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice / Police Administration from St. Joseph’s University, and graduated from class #353 of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command.
