Administrative Commander, Lt. James Donnelly


Lieutenant Jim Donnelly graduated from the Philadelphia Police Academy in 1999.  After a three-year assignment in the 26th District in Philadelphia, he joined the Bensalem Township Police Department.  Lieutenant Donnelly has led a distinguished career serving Bensalem Township.  He quickly advanced through the ranks from Patrol Officer, Corporal, Sergeant of Patrol Division and Detective-Sergeant of the Criminal Investigation Division.

From 2018 to 2022, Lieutenant Donnelly served as the Patrol Operations Commander.  In 2023, Lieutenant Donnelly became the Administrative Service Commander.  His current Command responsibilities includes the Communications Unit, School Security and School Resource Officers, Fire Police, Animal Control Officer, Crossing Guards, Police Activities League Program (PAL), and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program (D.A.R.E).

Lieutenant Donnelly received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice / Police Administration from St. Joseph’s University, and graduated from class #353 of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command.
